Café de Coral Group becomes the first catering group to achieve QF Level 4

Human resource is an important asset of Café de Coral Holdings Limited (SEHK: 0341) (“The Group”). Great resources have been dedicated to build a sustainable team by nurturing talent. The Group joined the Qualification Framework (QF) Programme Accreditation since 2016, for which the internal training course are evaluated by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) and are successfully certified as QF Level 3 and 4. More, Café de Coral Group is the first catering group to achieve QF Level 4.

This year coincides with the 50th anniversary of Café de Coral Group, as well as the 10th anniversary of Qualification Framework. To commemorate this special occasion, a graduation ceremony for the QF courses was held at Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Building on 23 May to celebrate the accreditation of QF Level 4 on the Advanced Diploma in Area Management Programme in Catering Industry. Certificates of different training courses and the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) were also presented. Mr Wong Yick Hang, Martin, Assistant Secretary (Further Education) of Education Bureau, Dr Sandra Wong , Deputy Executive Director (Vocational and Professional Education and Training) of HKCAAVQ, Mr Steve Lai, General Manager of Qualifications Framework Secretariat (QFS), Dr Keith Chau, Programme Director of Institute for Entrepreneurship at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Mr Angus Lam Chi Piu, Project Manager of Vocational Training Council (VTC) were invited to witness this remarkable moment.

The Advanced Diploma of Area Management Programme in Catering Industry launched by Café de Coral Group is recognized as QF Level 4 this year, becoming the first catering group to achieve this qualification within the industry. The course is a Specification of Competency Standards (SCS) based training pack. With its catering (Chinese cuisine) and retailing contents, the course aims to upgrade the branch management talent to the area management talent by providing management knowledge and operation skills to them. Besides, Certificate in Restaurant Management and Certificate in Restaurant Operation programmes of Café de Coral Group were certified as QF Level 3. Mr Peter Lo, Chief Executive Officer of Café de Coral Group expressed, “the Group will continue to design various training courses to encourage our staff to equip themselves under the Qualification Framework. We hope that they can have a comprehensive support and training as well as to show our recognition of their work. This motivation allows them to work proudly and thus develop into a sustainable team.”

“This year marks the 50th anniversary of Café de Coral Group, we have become a well-known Hong Kong brand over the half century. Apart from our valued customers, we treasure everyone in Café de Coral. We participated in the Qualification Framework (QF) Programme Accreditation and the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism in the hope to raise the recognition of our training courses. We even awarded the QF Gold Star Employer recently. Until now, we have assisted over 800 colleagues to attain the recognition of Prior Learning Level 2-4, including those from fast food, institutional catering, casual dining and Central Food Processing Centre,” Lo continued.

Certificates of RPL were also presented at the ceremony. To attain this recognition, colleagues only need to provide their years of working and documents showing relevant working experience for assessment. This shows the Group’s appreciation to their working experience and ability, as well as to achieve their career growth.
